Revival of the Freedom Mill
The Mill at Freedom Falls was built in 1834 as a grist mill serving the surrounding community. It was converted to a turning mill in 1907 and abandoned by 1967. In 2012 the Mill
at Freedom Falls was entered in the Register of Historic Places. The restored Mill houses a school, offices, and a farm-to-table restaurant.

When environmentalist Tony Grassi takes a crazy gamble to rehab an abandoned Mill, he inspires both skepticism and hope that its revived bond with the river will breath new life into the rural town of Freedom, Maine. With the help of a colorful team of builders, masons, engineers and architects, he sets out to reconstruct a forgotten historical treasure. Can his 21st century vision of conservation re-power this community, which is now welcoming a new generation of young farmers?
